The Citizen Science Engagement Fellows program is a collaborative academic–student affairs initiative focused on identifying and organizing a civic engagement cocurricular experience for first-years during their January term. Instrumental in designing opportunities to explore concepts of community service, civic engagement, and science education, Engagement Fellows can explore their own ideas about engagement in the community.

Parwin Amiri
Parwin Amiri
Parwin Amiri is a transfer student majoring in Human Rights,originally from Afghanistan. Before studying at Bard College Annandale, she used to teach English to Afghan girls and read storybooks to children. Parwin served as the leader of the "Free Speech," which is a project that aims to empower Central Asian youth by facilitating discussions on free speech standards and fostering the confidence to express their opinions. She has also worked in a tech-based company, Aseel, where she conducted research on humanitarian crises and women's employment, proposing initiatives for the betterment of Afghanistan. Parwin is passionate about civic engagement. In Fall 2023, she served as a Panelist in a pre-Election Day campus panel called "Why WE Vote," where she emphasized the importance of active participation in the electoral process. In her role as a Center for Civic Engagement STEM Outreach Fellow with the Citizen Science program, she is continuing her commitment to civic involvement and active participation.

Ben is a senior at the college majoring in electronic music. He is passionate about educating those around him and always strives to make a classroom smile. -
Tyler Figueroa
Tyler Figueroa
Tyler Figueroa is a sophomore in the written arts department, focusing on poetry. He is a graduate of the Bard Early College: Dutchess County program. Tyler's goal is to become an educator, since he is very passionate about education and school systems. Tyler co-leads a Trustee Leader Scholar project (a program founded by Bard's Dean of Social Action) called CommunityConnect, where he volunteers his time at local elementary schools twice a week to tutor children whose first language is not English. When Tyler is not doing school work, you can find him cooking or writing poetry. -

Giorgi Gzirishvili
Giorgi is a Senior Psychology student, who describes himself as curious, hard-working, and a compassionate person. During his studies here at Bard, his interest in the field of Psychology has deepend year upon year. He is excited to join the Citizen Science program, because he loves teaching and interacting with children. -
Diba Imran
Diba Imran
Diba Imran is a computer science student at Bard College. Diba writes, "While my academic journey involves exploring the intricacies of algorithms and computer science at Bard, my passion extends beyond coding. For the past two years, I have found joy in tutoring mathematics, building on my previous experience working with kids where I tutored both math and literacy." She also loves scientific subjects and always enjoys exploring the realm of science. In her free time, she also likes reading novels and poetry. -

Naser Jamshidi
Naser Jamshidi is a senior majoring in Political Studies with a focus on Global Studies. He is interested in civic engagement and community outreach, which led him to join the CCE. He believes that the resilience of a community relies on solid relationships and engaging in activities that strengthen ties between its members. Naser plays soccer, enjoys reading and analyzing books, and has a keen interest in Biology, particularly in understanding human body systems. This interest inspired him to become a STEM fellow, where he assists students in exploring the biological world. -

Masoma Shoayb
Masoma Shoayb is a transfer student from American University of Afghanistan, originally from Afghanistan. Before transferring to Bard College Annandale, she studied abroad for one year at the American University of Sulaymaniyah, Iraq. Masoma is a junior Computer Science major, intending to graduate by Fall 2025. She has a strong passion for socializing and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds since it exposes me to a variety of perspectives, ideas, and ways of thinking. Masoma also loves solving math problems and doing codes.
