What makes an infectious agent infectious?
Why are there vaccines for some diseases, but not others?
How do we interpret scientific findings?

For scientists to achieve success in computing or laboratory-based endeavors, they must appreciate the greater context of their work. With this in mind, students will consider broad questions from a variety of perspectives. To accomplish this, they will use data analysis to evaluate and interpret their own experimental results, critically evaluate data presented in primary research articles and the experimental design of those works, and determine the historical, societal, and scientific contexts of the questions they choose to explore.
